Brigitte Purdy
To have the ability to sing is something that many of us are naturally gifted from a very early age. Very few individuals, though, are able to connect such ability to their own emotions and translate them into singing and songwriting. Brigitte Rios Purdy has felt that need to sing about her own inner feelings and emotions since she was a child. Born and raised in Los Angeles Brigitte Purdy has soon expressed the great desire to become a singer, with a particular inclination to soul, blues and R&B. It didn't take too long for the American singer and songwriter, thanks to her pure and silky singing voice, to be noted and asked to perform on the same stage with artists like Walter Trout, Sugaray Rayford, Tim Bogart Dionne Warwick, and Dolly Parton amongst others. Singing background vocals for such artists as The Who and Paul Rodgers.

Once the ice of the music business was broken, Brigitte Rios Purdy's next step into connecting completely with music at 360 degrees was starting to write her own songs. Her profound, love and admiration for the late great B.B. King pushed the American artist to compose her very first song called Lucille, Don't You Weep, a blues ballad with clear references to King's most favourite guitar and the intensity of the sound coming from one of the most famous blues guitars of all time.

The song became the perfect platform for the singer and songwriter to combine her wonderful and unique voice with her new found talent as a lyricist and to inspire her to write more songs that would allow Purdy to show her phenomenal vocal skills. Encouraged by the positive comments of the music press worldwide, since her debut single, the American artist has then never stopped writing and recording new material. Another of the original songs coming from Purdy's repertoire, currently on constant heavy rotation on some of the biggest blues/rock radio in America, is her brand new single called Blues Angel. The tune is a superb blues ballad with tinges of jazz, with a flawless vocal performance from Purdy. The Californian artist is, though, not just a great blues interpreter but she has also written and recorded few catchy songs with a more blues/rock approach, like Rise Like The Water and Shot Heard Around The World, part of the original material belonging to the repertoire of this rising star in the music business.

Many independent record labels are already trying to sign the American artist.
Bio
Brigitte was born and raised in Los Angeles. From an early age, her family cultivated her artistry by immersing her in the rich sounds of blues and gospel. Her father was a blues guitarist and would often showcase her talents at family gatherings. At the tender age of 5, she was hand-picked by the choir director to perform her first solo.
At the age of 13, her mother heard an announcement on the radio for auditions at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Brigitte competed against hundreds of young hopefuls for a chance to enter the Dorothy Chandler Conservatory. She was selected and subsequently trained by the best in the business.
Brigitte began performing at the Ahmanson Theater and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. She has been blessed to share the stage with talents such as Dionne Warwick, Marilyn McCoo, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Tierra, among many others. She also enjoyed working with Hal Davis of Motown Records.
Among her many vocal gigs, Brigitte was a background vocalist for Paul Rodgers on the Jimi Hendrix/Muddy Waters Tour. She was given the incredible opportunity to tour the globe with The U.S.A. Girls, entertaining the troops overseas for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Brigitte is forever grateful for the opportunities she has been given. She loves people and loves to give of her time and talents. Believing strongly in the power of mentoring, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in the Humanities and enjoys giving back to her community.
Brigitte uses her sultry, powerful and emotive range to captivate an audience. She can go from a gentle purr to a sonic boom within seconds, while pouring her heart into every note. Her incredible versatility ranges from Classical to Blues, Funk, Rock, Jazz and Soul, each delivered with her unique and passionate style

SANTA CLARITA WOMEN OF THE BLUES FESTIVAL
"Originally from Los Angeles, Brigitte Rios Purdy has been voicing her emotions through song since she was a child. The genres that have resonated with her most were blues, soul and R&B. Because of her standout talent, she has performed with some of the most notable music stars.
“I’ve been performing since I was five,” Purdy said. “I took a long break to raise my children.” When she returned to her music, Purdy was all in.“My goal as a human being is to be used as an instrument to help lift others via my music,” Purdy says, “that my love for humanity would resonate within their souls.”
Players in her band include: Drake Shinning on keys; Jamie Hunting on bass, Eric Tice on drums, and Gratz Arias on guitar.
“Music binds us together in such a unique form,” she said.
Purdy has a soft spot for helping empower young girls. One of the causes she supports is One is United by Music, which blends differently-abled musicians with blues artists. She’s also involved with Rock and Roll Camp for Girls, which “provides empowerment for young girls via music,” she said.
“The girls form bands, write music and, at the end of the week, perform their songs at the Troubadour. It’s quite an experience to watch as each of these groups blossom via some one-on-one nurturing, modeling and mentoring through music.”
Over all, Purdy says love is her main emotion when it comes to her art, and she aims to leave a legacy of love. “My goal is to be able to connect with my audience through my music,” Purdy said. “I cherish the moments when the listeners are able to cast their worries of the world aside and enjoy a phenomenal musical experience.”
Working to support a non-profit like Single Mothers Outreach was a big factor in the artist scheduling this concert.
“To participate in the Santa Clarita Women of the Blues Festival is of great importance,” Purdy said. “Lifting others in any capacity is a big priority in my book.”

Wow what an amazing single this is and one that is just so commanding of your attention. Purdy once again displays a mastery of her voice as she runs the gamut of emotions that can purr like a kitten or bring down the heavens with a growl that would have the devil running for cover. Purdy is a she-devil casting a hoodoo spell over the listener and only she can do it with this much passion. I am blown away and just want more! If this is a teaser for an album just sign me up as life won’t be worth living without it.
Blues this good that hearken back to the sound of the seventies with its intensity certainly get my juices running. Brigitte Purdy has delivered once again in a style that makes you confident that Blues is in a great place.
